This is a computer recycling and refurbishment project, in which members of the project develop skills in ‘up to date’ Information and Communication Technology and learn to refurbish computer hardware.
Many of the refurbished computers they produce are sent to Third World countries, or are available to disadvantaged groups in the UK The members of the project are able to work towards nationally recognised qualifications and are helped to develop skills to enable them to obtain paid employment. They were rewarded for their commitment to this in the Mid Essex Business Awards 2004 where they received a “Highly Commended” award for life long learning.
RevITalise is also committed to reducing the impact of waste IT equipment on the environment and for their efforts received the Mid Essex Small Business Award in Environmental Awareness 2004. In the 2005 Awards Revitalise were again finalists in the categories of Environmental Awareness and Staff Training and Development.
